Begur Wildlife Sanctuary - Wayanad

It is 20km east of Manathavady. The Begur Wildlife Sanctuary is home to several species of animals including elephant, deer, tiger, boar, leopard and birds. The dense forest also has a wealth of herbs and medicinal plants. It is a lesser known wildlife area as compared to the nearby national parks, but it frequented none the same. The best time to visit the sanctuary is between December and May. During this time there's a scarcity of water in the Bandhipur, Nagarhole and Mudamalai sanctuaries of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. So, animals migrate to Begur in search of food and water.
