Kalpetta - Wayanad

It is the headquarters of Wayanad. Kalpetta is known for its markets as it used to be, and in some ways it still is, the centre where hill produce is collected, sold and bought. Coffee and spices find their way into bazaars here. The town also was a pivotal area for Jains. Ananthanathaswami Jain temple at Puliyarmala and the Kottamunda Jain temple are reminders of the same. Among temples, the Grammam Devi Temple and the Madiyoor Sri Maha Vishnu Temple, on the Kozhikode Highway, are famous. The oldest mosque in Wayanad is the 300-year-old Varambetta Mosque, 15km from Kalpetta.
