Also called Sabayamalakshetra, this temple gets its name from the gooseberry tree in the premises. 'Nelli' is Malayalam for the gooseberry tree. The place is surrounded by the Brahmagiri Hills. The name of the temple means 'the temple with the sacred Nelli'. Brahma and Vishnu are the deities worshipped here. An annual, two-day festival brings the place alive.
